-- NON-MEMBER FISHING--
On July 7, 2020, following a closure due to COVID-19, the Ute Tribal Business Committee re-opened reservation lands to non-members for fishing, boating, and camping. Permits for these activities can be purchased at either the Ute Plaza in Fort Duchesne, or the Ute Petroleum Station in Myton. Both locations have copies of the 2020 Fishing Proclamation available, which outline the rules and regulations for fishing, boating, and camping on tribal grounds.
Any previously purchased annual fishing licenses that were affected by the closure (April 7 – July 7, 2020) will be extended to ensure that no fishing days are lost. These licenses will be extended for a three month period (depending on date of purchase). Should you have an affected license no action needs to be taken; simply keep your expired license which will be valid and honored for an additional three months past the expiration date.
All rules, regulations, and seasons outlined in the 2020 Fishing Proclamation are in effect at this time. In addition, please be aware that groups on tribal lands are limited to 10 people to follow the tribal social distancing policy.
Desolation Canyon still remains closed to non-members for any recreation, hiking, or camping. Any trespassers will be subject to fines and possible impoundment and/or confiscation of property.
If you have any questions, please contact the Fish and Wildlife Department.
