PAINTED HORSE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM: Activities Coming Up:
- Suicide Awareness Walk on September 16, 2023 starting at the Painted Horse Bldg. @ 9am.
- Big Foot Trail Run will be held on September 22, 2023 Registration is at 7am, run starts at 7:30am.
- Strong Warrior Competition is on September 23, 2023 Weigh in is at 8am, Competition starts at 9:30am.
- Senior Workouts Every Mondays & Wednesday from 11am-11:45am at Painted Horse.
- Stretching Classes Monday & Wednesdays from 12:25pm-12:45 at Painted Horse.
- Womens Functional Fitness Every Friday Morning from 10:30am-12pm.
- Muay Thai Class, Every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30pm-6pm.
- Addict Athlete Class, Every Thursday from 4-5pm.
- Streamline Massage – A free 60-minute massage is available once a month at Painted Horse DPP to Native Americans living in the community while funding is available. Please call to schedule an appt at 435-828-7891

UIT RECREATION: Activities are as Follows:
- Fall Fest Come & Enjoy Games, Food, Bouncy Houses, Cake Walk on Saturday October 21, 2023 at the Fort Duchesne Gym this will be held from 10am-2pm.
- Men’s & Womens Open Holiday Basketball Tournament will be held December 8th & 9th, 2023. 16 years and older (no student athletes) Entry fee is $300 and Deadline is November 29, 2023. Games will be held at the Ft. Duchesne Gym & Whiterocks Gym.
- Womens/Coed Volleyball League. Entry fee is $300. Deadline is February 6, 2024.

UIT HALLOWEEN TRUNK OR TREAT: will be held on October 30, 2023. Starting at 5pm at the Ft. Duchesne Pow-wow grounds. For additional question you may contact Korin or Heather at 435-722-2331.
EDUCATION: Is having a Back to School Food Drive. Canned goods, rice, pasta, ramen, toiletry, feminine hygiene products, hand sanitizer, wipes and anything else would help. Drop off location is at the Ute Tribe Education Department. For any questions you may call 435-722-2331.
UINTAH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL: Parent Teacher Conference will be held on September 15, 2023 from 1:00pm – 2:30pm. This is an important opportunity for parents and teachers to connect, discuss student progress, and collaborate on achieving academic goals. We encourage all parents to participate in this event. UIT WATER SYSTEMS PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: The Tribe was successful at obtaining a Water SMART grant from the Bureau of Reclamation to replace water meters, beginning with their customers in the Indian Bench and Gusher areas for Phase I. The project will focus on replacing the water meters and associated parts, including service lines for some of the homes. Work will commence in September and go through the winter if conditions allow, starting back up in the springtime into early summer 2024. Thank you for your patience during periodic waterline shut downs so that the project can be completed.
UIT SENIORS CENTER: Will be holding Bingo Games Every Thursday starting September 14, 2023 from 12-12:45pm. The office will remain open during the lunch hour (12:00pm to 12:45pm) to help better assist our Seniors & Elders. Please be patient with us as we are still short staff we will try our best to help assist you, we do have position available with the Senior Dept. such as a Laborer, Home Health & Out Reach Driver, if you are interested in applying please contact the Human Resource Dept. @ 435-725-4009.
REMINDER: PLEASE TIE UP YOUR DOGS TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE DELIVERY DRIVERS, IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE HOME PLEASE LEAVE A DESIGNATED PLACE FOR YOUR MEAL or PLEASE CALL THE SENIOR KITCHEN @ 435-725-4295. UTE TRIBE HOUSING PROGRAM: Please be advised all homeowners that are participating in the Tribal Housing Program you are required to have home owner’s insurance. Please provide the Ute Tribe Housing Program with insurance coverage to your homes. Please contact The Housing Program Director Debra Jones if you should have any questions in regards to this matter. LIHEAP: Is no longer accepting Heat applications for the 2023 year, The Water Program is still available and it is the same application as the heat. for more information, you may contact Lora Garcia Liheap Coordinator at 435-725-4878
UTE TRIBE TRANSIT: The Ute Indian Tribe Transit Department helps accommodate the transportation needs of the surrounding communities in the basin. We have three fixed routes that run Monday thru Thursday. We have morning routes and afternoon routes that run from Myton, Whiterocks, Randlett, and Roosevelt. When needing transportation to any appointments or to do your day to day activities we do have an On Demand Driver also who we can schedule your transportation with. You can call the office at 435-725-4984 anytime to schedule transportation we do ask you to call a day in advance. You will be placed on our board with time, pick up location and destination. Please be informed if you can’t make your scheduled pick up please call our office and inform us. If you are a no show to three scheduled pick up’s when you call you will be placed on the schedule at the driver’s discretion.
Our Boarding fees are as follows: Regular $1.00 / Children (1yr-7yrs) $0.50 / Students (8yrs-18yrs) $0.75 / Seniors (60yrs & older) $0.75. We also provide Passenger Discount Passes Tickets 10 – rides $8.00 / 20 – rides $16.00 / 30 – rides $24.00.
Student / Senior Discount are 10 – rides $7.00 / 20 – rides $14.00 / 30 – rides $21.00
Discount passes can be purchased at the office or from any Transit Driver.

UIT MOSQUITO ABATEMENT: The Uintah Basin is seeing a high amount of virus activity this year. Our tests and the Uintah Mosquito Abatement District’s tests are coming back positive. The area’s that we have received positive tests for are:
- Fort Duchesne
- Randlett
- Sunshine
- Ouray
- Myton
- Arcadia
Uintah Mosquito Abatement District has positive tests in the Pelican Lake area, Ballard, Tridell, Ouray Wildlife Refuge, around 2000 N Lapoint HWY also some tests are positive on the east side of Uintah County. Everyone please limit your exposure to mosquitoes by using an EPA approved repellent. Wear long sleeves and pants. Dump everything that can hold water every 5-7 days to eliminate mosquito habitat. We still have some repellent at the office. Stop by if you may need some, we will continue to treat standing water and spray with the trucks in the evenings. BACK TO SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION CLINIC: Every Wednesday from 1pm – 4pm at the Fort Duchesne Community Bldg. Until September 27th 2023. for more information, call 435-725-6838 or 725-6815.
ADULT PROBATION: If anyone owes fines to the court and would like to complete community service hours please reach out to the Adult Probation Department at 435-725-4899.
UTE LANGUAGE AND TRADITIONS DEPARTMENT: We are currently working on in person classes at our office during office hours at the CHR building (old hospital). Community presidents call to schedule weekly classes. Contact us with any questions at 435-725-2876.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION: Starting on Monday August 28, 2023 Food Distribution will have a new time of operation. *Operation Hours are Monday – Friday from 8am-6pm.
*Issuance Hours are Monday – Friday from 8am-11:45am & 1pm-5:30pm.

WIOA “WORKFORCE INNOVATION & OPPORTUNITY ACT”: Is up and running. The program is as temporary basis employment program and provides financial support to individuals trying to obtain a High School Diploma through UIT Adult Ed Program. While under the program, participants can receive assistance for Childcare and Training expenses, if applicable. The program is available to all Native American (Ute Indian Tribe, Tribal Descendants, and Other Tribes etc.) if interested contact Rachel Shore at 435-725-4218 or stop by the Human Resource Office to pick up an WIOA application.
EMERGENCY EMPLOYMENT: Is now Accepting applications for the 2023 Laborer Work Pool. Responsibilities: To perform various general or manual labor duties for the Ute Indian Tribe. You must complete application and Submit two forms of I.D. FYI this is a 9-month temporary full-time job position program for Tribal Members only.
