Notice of Ute Tribe Elections. Due to the pandemic and necessary social distancing, all CDC guidelines that the Ute Tribe Emergency Management has instituted will be adhered to in the Tribal Auditorium and during the Polling locations. This will require limited seating in the auditorium during the opening of the nominations on March 30, 2021.                            Notice of Ute Tribe Elections

Pursuant to Ordinance 13-006 as amended, notice is hereby given that the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation will hold an election to fill the expiring terms of the following members of the Ute Tribal Business Committee:

Incumbents: Tony Small, Uncompahgre Band

Luke Duncan, Whiteriver Band

Sal Wopsock, Uintah Band

NOMINATIONS: Each eligible voter may write in the name of the (1) eligible nominee, whom the voter would like to have representing his or her band on the Business Committee for the period of 4 years. Nominations will be on March 10, 2021 from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM and conclude March 30, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Ute Tribal Auditorium.

PRIMARY ELECTIONS: The Primary Election will be held on April 20, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The purpose of the election is to give the (2) candidates from the list of eligible nominees from the nomination period representing: Uncompahgre, Uintah and Whiteriver Band (s).

GENERAL ELECTION: The General Election will be held on May 11, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The three (3) candidates receiving the highest number of votes from each band in the General Election shall represent the Uncompahgre, Uintah and Whiteriver bands on the Ute Tribe Business Committee for the term of 2021-2023.

ELIGIBLE NOMINEE: Any member of the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation twenty-one (21) years of age, who has maintained a residence within the boundaries of the Uintah & Ouray Reservation for a period of one (1) year preceding the election, shall be entitled to vote and hold office.

POLLING PLACES AND TIME: The polls will be open from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the Fort Duchesne Community Building, Myton Community Building, Randlett Community Building and the Whiterocks Community Building on April 20, 2021 and May 11, 2021.

ABSENTEE VOTERS: An eligible voter who qualifies to vote by absentee (Pursuant to Ordinance 13-006, Article IV, Section A, Part 2.) may REQUEST an absentee ballot for the Primary Election starting Friday April 9, 2021 at 8:30 AM, and ending April 19, 2021 no later than 4:00 PM. The Election Commission will start accepting absentee ballots for the General Election on April 30, 2021 at 8:30 AM and ending May 10, 2021 at no later than 4:00 p.m. ALL ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL BE RECEIVED AT THE UTE TRIBAL AUDITORIUM.

NOTICE OF ELECTION RESULTS: The Election Commission shall post the results of the Primary Election on April 21, 2021. The General Election results shall be posted on May 13, 2021 at an conspicuous location in the communities designated as polling places. The Election Commission shall deliver the results of the General Election to the Tribal Business

Committee on May 17, 2021.

Community Health Representatives Area rotation for March 2021

Will be in the process of flushing Fire Hydrants for the next two weeks beginning in Whiterocks and moving south to Ouray. Residents may experience air in the lines, water that has a whitish appearance, or low water pressure. These effects will be temporary. The Ute Agriculture Will not no longer be saleing hay.  No exceptions.  The CO-OP will be taking Applications for CO-OP you can enter the building in the back applications will be in the door

Drive – Thru Covid-19 Testing, Tuesday & Wednesday, 9AM-10AM. Thursdays 1:30 To 2:30 PM. It is recommended to make an appointment for COVID testing so the lab order can be made before you arrive. Location is the Ambulance Doors.

Drive – Thru Flu Shots, Monday & Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment needed for Flu Shots. You will not be able to get the Covid-19 shot at the same time.



Ute Family Services (UFS) is looking to recruit foster families within the tribal community for children who need a foster home placement. UFS will be holding a Foster Care class starting on 4/21/2021. The class will be held twice weekly, for 10 weeks, at the UFS building, on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, and Fridays, from 10 AM to 11 AM. Right now we have 18 slots available give me a call if you would like to be added for the 1st class @ (435-725-2847)

We are nearly three quarters through the school year and along with the warmer weather, spring break has arrived. There will be no school from March 31st till April 5th.

The senior citizen department would like to say a GREAT BIG THANKS!!!  To the Recreation Department for their help in getting the meals out to our seniors. Also to all the other previous individuals/ departments who worked tirelessly assisting in making sure the seniors were getting services thru out the year.  The staff would like to encourage all seniors and caregivers to contact our department and let us know your ideas and concerns. We have set up a couple of processes on how we are tracking our services that we provide, so we may increase our overall quality of services. At this time we have two outreach/drivers, two cooks- we appreciate your patience and understanding in our getting back to you in a timely manner. Also the heating assistance is completed for those that are ages 55-74 years

Spring Break March 31st – April 6th Virtual School will resume on April 7th. Head Start is using a 3 Phased Approach to returning back to school.  The First phase is Virtual Distant Learning, the Second Phase is Transition and the Third Phase is Re-Entry. Moving from one phase to another will be dependent on the COVID-19 rates in the Uintah and Duchesne County and on Federal, State and Tribal mandates.  Head Start is currently in the Distant Learning Phase.  We anticipate moving into the Re-Entry phase by the start of the 2021 school year. We will give the option for parents to continue in the Distant Learning phase. We are taking enrollment for 3-5 year old children and will continue throughout the year. Also Accepting Application for the school year 2021-2022 School will start September 2021.



All those that put in an application for this year’s Garden Box project have been approved.  You will be getting a phone call from either Yvette, Mercedis or Shaye to discuss the placement of your garden box, if you are new to the project.  Last year’s garden box participants still need to fill out an application and plant list.  We have seeds available if anyone is interested in planting cold season crops.  Give us a call at 725-4911 or 725-4915 for more information.

If you are requesting transportation to a medical appointment out of the area, you will need to provide documentation of your appointment.  We will need your name, appointment date and time and the location of the appointment.  We have to provide documentation when requesting travel authorization.  All personal health information will be omitted.  Please notify the Medical driver’s to schedule your transport as soon as you can to allow for ample time to get transportation approved.  You can call the drivers direct line at 725-4998.  If no one answers, leave your name, call back number, appointment date and time and location of appointment. A driver will call you back to confirm your information.



Food & Hygiene Pantry Is Now Open. All communities’ members are welcome. Please share if you know any individuals are in need of supplies. We are also still accepting donations to maintain and serve the community! The pantry is located in the breeze way of the Education Department office. The Pantry is open during regular business hours Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm. For questions or concerns call Melissa Taveapont (435-725-4062) for more information about the drive.

This is a public notice that the Ute Indian Housing Authority is officially initiating its Emergency Rental Assistance Program. This program is open to all Ute Indian Tribal members who are currently renting, on or off the reservation. Applications can be picked up and turned in at our main office.
