Dedication of the Buffalo Soldier’s Heart Monument, in Ouray, Utah
Wednesday, August 7th, 2019.
We would like to invite everyone to the dedication of the Buffalo Soldiers Heart Monument in Ouray, Utah.
There will be a bus at the Ute Veterans Monument to transport those interested in attending.
Bus will leave at 9:00 am sharp! No Indian Time.

REMINDER: FROM THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT:
Last call for donated school supplies, There’s a list of some ideas of school supplies that could be donated. We have 200 backpacks to fill but please don’t feel obligated to purchase 200 items, any amount of items will be greatly appreciated, please feel free to dropping off school supplies at the Ute Indian Tribe Education Dept. building. Backpacks will be handed out during the back to school luau August 10th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me by email or call. Thank you for all the support you provide to the community.

HEAD START UPDATE: REGISTRATION DAY FOR THE UTE INDIAN TRIBE:
Registration will be held August 7th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

UP-DATE FROM THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT:
REMINDER: Please return all Jerseys or Equipment that was checked out during the Tri-Utes Games.
Please be advised, if your football player would like to participate in this year’s football season, per league requirement they must to registered by Tomorrow, August 6th by 12:00 pm.
Please have the registration forms filled out, jerseys/equipment and weight taken at the Fort Duchesne gym. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS, this is the league deadline.
We are taking sign-ups for the basketball camp. August 11-13th. Session 1 is from 9-12 (noon), Session 2 is from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Includes: 3-day training, Two (2) session’s daily from ages 9-18 yrs. old.
Football Training Camp: August 5-7th, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
Recreation Department is taking applications for Jr. Jazz, please come sign-up at the Recreation Office we haven’t set dates yet just getting players registered.

UP-DATE FROM UTE TRIBE HEAD START PROGRAM:
We are now placing children into classrooms, if your child’s application is missing documents, they cannot be placed into a classroom. There are limited slots available. All families are welcome to apply and all services are FREE. We are still accepting applications.

Ute Indian Tribe is offering Fatherhood/Motherhood is Sacred Classes. Classes are very Monday and Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes will end on August 15th, at the Head Start Administration building.

UTE INDIAN TRIBE ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM:
The Alcohol/Substance Abuse Prevention Program would like to extend an open invite to attend our “Mending Broken Hearts” Wellbriety meeting, this evening at 6:00 pm. This group is open to all members of the community and is held every Tuesday here at the Alcohol & Substance Abuse Prevention Program. This group will help you work on unresolved grief and broken relationship.
UP-DATE FROM FISH & WILDLIFE BIG GAME DEPARTMENT:
Big Game Permits will be available on Thursday August 8th, as a reminder. Those persons who drew the permit will have 8 business days to pick up their permits. After the 8 days’ day period, alternates will have 4 business days to pick up permits, if available. After the alternate period, permits will be available to the general public.

UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE ENTERPRISES:
Ute Tribe Enterprises is planning a back to school Luau on Saturday, August 10th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, at the Ute Plaza Supermarket parking lot. There will be contests, games, back-to-school giveaways, music. Free school supplies and lunch.
This event is a success due to the generous donations from organizations throughout the Uintah Basin. If you are interested how you can get involved, contact our marking department @ email@example.com
UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE SENIOR’S PROGRAM:
August 16th – 19th, No lunch served due the Sundance.
Ute Tribe Senior Title V1, Grant-Meals & Grants-Transportation for 2019-2020:
The Ute Senior Center meal service is a regular nutritional meal program this is a benefit tribal members ages 55 years & over whom live within the service area. Meal service from 11:30 am, to 12:30 pm. Monday thru Thursday, except holidays or tribal events.
All Transportation has to be schedules in advance with a correct cell or contact number.
Ute Tribe /Senior TitlenV1, Ute Caregiver Support for 2019-2020:
We will be offering classes or events in coordination with other tribal programs. Resite care for tribal seniors during these times at the Ute Senior Center from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm/Monday-Thursday plus lunch is provided at the center from 11:30 to 12:30 pm.
The Utah Food Bank has reached out to the Ute Senior Program:
To qualify a REQUIRED FORMS, have to be filled out.
Age is 60 years and over
Must live in the service area of the U&O (Roosevelt & Duchesne have their own program)
Must meet income qualifications
One per Household
One picks up day & signature is required or proxy can be done.
If enough interest in this program it could start in September 2019.
REMINDER: The Ute Senior WINTER HEATING program is done for this year.
The next available funding starts October 2019 to February 2020 only.
UPDATE FROM UINTAH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL:
Please be advised that we have 15 slots available in the 9th grade class, 2 slots in the 11th grade class.
10th and 12th grades are full with a waiting list started.

Also remember that enrollment is not considered complete until all required documents are submitted, which are birth certificate, current immunization and address verification (physical). Chief Ouray died on august 24, 1880 and his wife Chipeta passed on August 17th, 1924.
Celebrate their legacy with the first Chief Ouray and Chipeta Color Walk/Run.
