Good Morning, my friends and relatives.

ATTENTION: ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON THE EAST SIDE WHITEROCKS BRIDGE:

Road is closed for Bridge Construction, on the East side of Whiterocks, the work will begin Monday, June 3rd , 2019, and until August 8th , 2019.

Please pay attention the Detour Signs.

This project consists of demolition and replacement of the existing Whiterocks Bridge, including road improvements on the East and West side of the bridge structure with channel widening, riprap rail bank protection under the new structure and waterline replacement.

  1. R. Chapman Construction encourages the traveling public to pay attention to construction detour signs which will be placed shortly prior to start of bridge construction.

Notice is hereby given that the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation (hereinafter refereed to as the “Ute Indian Tribe”)

Under the Free-Roaming Horse Management plan for the Uintah & Ouray Reservation.

The Ute Indian Tribe Fish & Wildlife is publishing this notice in regards to the Ute Tribe Big Game Enhancement Department to conduct a round up in the Hill Creek Extension.

The Horse Round Up will take effect after June 10th , 2019.

NEWS UPDATE: FROM UTE INDIAN TRIBE ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM:

Alcohol/Substance Abuse Program presents: Mental Health First Aid Training. June 6th 2019, from 8:00 a.m to 5:00 pm.

Held at the Fort Duchesne Community Building, (Nuche Civic Center).

There’s only 25 slots available, so RDVP 722-3234. Lunch & Light refreshments will be provided. Our program is doing the quarterly Mental Health First Aid Training certification in conjunction with Northeastern counseling.

UTE INDIAN TRIBE ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM PRESENTS:

Parent Early Prevention, Topics: Synthetic Drugs & Preparing Summer Parenting.

JUNE IS ELDER ABUSE RECOGNITION MONTH:

The Prosecution, AP&P, and Sorna Department along with other department are hosting an Elderly Abuse Recognition week during the first week of June. We will be hosting the event for three days from June 4-6th , 2019. Starting at 10:30 am. -2:00 pm.

We’re planning on hosting a bingo and raffle during these days and would appreciate donations. Donations can be any beaded items, gift certificate, movie tickets, etc.

PAINTED HORSE DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM 4TH ANNUAL NATIVE AMERICAN MEN’S HEALTH CONFERENCE:

June 20th - Sweat Ceremony, at 5:00 pm, at the Red Pine Residential Treatment Facility.

June 21st – Bigfoot Trail Run/Walk, 7.5 mile run, Starting point: Painted Horse, Check-in 6:30-8:00 am.

June 22nd – Strong Warriors Weight Lifting Challenge, At the Fort Duchesne Gym. Weigh In: 8:00 am, Competition at 9:00 am. Divisions: Teen Ages 15-17 yrs old, Women, Men, Master 50+. Categories: Squats, Bench Press, Dead Lifts. Awards for each weight class in all divisions. Weight-ins can be done at the Bigfoot Trail run, Friday June 21st.

Empower Me! WOMEN’S WELLNESS CONFERENCE:

UPDATE FROM THE UTE TRIBE SENIOR’S PROGRAM:

June 11th – Annual Ute Elder Recognition Day, for those 80 years and over at 11:30 am.

Ute Senior/Caregivers: Stretching Routine For Seniors, Senior Balance and Strength Classes every Thursday, starting May 2nd at the Senior Center 2:00 – 3:00 pm.

Tuesday morning: will be Senior Massage after 10:30 to 12:00 noon.

All Ute Caregivers are encouraged and welcome to participate.

Exercises on Mondays and Wednesdays: from 1:15-2:00 pm. Points are being counted for participations prizes/awards.

Senior Crafts/Respite Program: has been doing all sorts of crafts, wreath making, fleece blankets, and many other seasonal decorations are to come. I have directed and require that all senior staff help do crafts or come up with idea’s, all crafts are done on site.

Ute Tribe Senior Title V1, Ute Caregiver Support Program for 2019-2020:

The Ute Senior Program is here to give support. We will be offering classes or events in coordination with other tribal program. Resite care for tribal seniors during these times at the Ute Senior Center from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Monday thru Thursday, plus lunch is provided at the center from 11:30 to 12:30 pm.

Meal Delivery: As required by Federal Grants guidelines, we cannot leave food outside your home, if you’re not going to be home, please call the Senior Office @ 725-4281.

Also delivery drivers are having problems with Dogs, please watch your animals, every mishap is reported to the UIT Executive Director.

For those needing chore work contact: UIT Building Rehab, UIT Water Systems, or UIT Maintenance. All these programs are here to try their best to assist.

 

COMING UP-DATE FROM THE UTE LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT:

Nooahpahreeh Ute Language Institute Language Workshop:

June 4th & 5th , 2019. Time: 9:00 am, to 3:00 pm, held at the Nuche Civil Center, Fort Duchesne.

Ute Tribal Enterprises will be honoring Elder’s who helped with Language.

Refreshment and Lunch will be served, along with door prizes.

The Enrollment Steering Committee will host a meeting with the Tribal Elders of the Ute Tribe. This will be held June 18th , in the Nuche Civic Center in Fort Duchesne Community Building. from 10:30 am to 12 noon, lunch will be provided.

SWIMMING: AT VERNAL RECREATION CENTER:

Participants under 9 yrs. old will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Activities available: Play Basketball, Walk on Tread Mills, Climb the Rock Wall, Walk the Indoor Track, and Workout in Weight Room.

The Tribal/WIOA Summer Youth Program, has closed for both Summer Session 1st and 2nd . We’ll be holding a Orientation Meeting on Monday, June 10th at 8:00 am, in the Tribal Auditorium. Both the participants and the parents have to be present for the Summer Youth Program Orientation to go over the policies and the procedures of participating in the program.

Updates from Kateri Tekakwitha Mission:

Mass held at Kateri Tekakwitha Mission every Wednesday at 5:00 pm, in Fort Duchesne, just North of the Blue Store.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Catholic Bishop from Salt Lake will be doing a Mass for the Community at the Kateri Tekakwitha Mission in Fort Duchesne, July 14th , 2019.

SUNRISE PRAYER SERVICE: In Remembrance of our Veterans of the Normandy Invasion WW11 (1944) and All Veterans of WW11. Friday, June 7th 2019. Sun Rise Ceremony will be held at the U & O Veterans Park, in Fort Duchesne.

Bottle Hollow and Midview Carp Tournaments:

June 15, 2019 at Bottle Hollow Reservoir

Registration is at 7:30 am. Tournament Start at 8:00 am, and ends at 12:00 pm.

3 Man Team, No Entry Fee, Tribal Fishing Permit and Boating permit required.

Opened to youth Boys & Girls ages 14-17, it’s a 3 day/9 mile backpacking trip.
