ATTENTION: UNION HIGH SCHOOL DEDUCATION.

Union High School will have their school dedication at 6:00 pm, this evening Tuesday, October 2, 2018.

At the new Union High School Auditorium.

ATTENTION: ALL TRIBAL MEMEBERS:

4 Direction Relay Run: is schedule for Friday, October 5th.

There will be relay runner coming for the 4 direction, North from Whiterocks, South from Ouray, East from the Ouray turn off, West from Fruitland Country Store (Bikers). Re-lay Run will end at the Pow-wow grounds.

You can register at Painted Horse, or the morning of the relay at the Ute Plaza. Registration and check-in at 8:00 am. There will be transportation available to take the runners to the designate areas.

Elders and children are welcomed to join in about ¼ of mile before the pow-wow ground, in each direction.

Lunch will be provided at 12:30 pm, along with Water Law presentation.

Come join us at the 420+Water Vote, Pow-wow after the Relay Run, this is Non-competition, and opened to everyone.

Flu Vaccine is for all ages.

Why should I get a flu shot?

Getting a flu shot is the best way to slow the spread of flu from person to person.

A flu shot protect you and your family against the flu.

Because of the flu, thousands die, and many more are hospitalized each year in the U.S.

Anyone can get the flu, but some people are at high risk for complications from the flu.

People age 65 and older.

People with health problems like: asthma, diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung disease, and other chronic illnesses or conditions.

Pregnant woman, or people caring for an infant or a family member with health problems.

UP-DATE: FAMILY DENTAL PLAN CLINIC:

Community Partnered Mobile Dental Clinic is coming to Tri-County Health Department in Roosevelt, address:

409 S. 200 E. Scheduled for Monday, October 22, from 12:30 – 4:30 pm.

Any Adult or Children without any dental coverage and income lower than 200% of poverty per family or Non-Traditional Medicaid qualifies. The clinic will provide dental examination, X-Ray, cleaning, sealants, filling, and extractions for $30.00 per person.

UPDATE FROM FISH & WILDLIFE: SURPLUS MEAT

We are in the process of clearing out the surplus meat in preparation of this year’s hunting season. We have a few packages of Elk meat available and the rest is Buffalo burger, steaks and roast. If any tribal members or departments are in need of meat please come by the Fish & Wildlife office. We will be distributing meat on a first come first serve basis and our form will need to be filled out for individuals tribal members. Department requesting for meat will need to submit a memo. Please bring a box or bag, it will be helpful when distributing.

SPECIAL PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Ute Indian Tribe Fish & Wildlife Law Enforcement, will be conducting an Administrative Checkpoint near the Turkey Trail area on October 12th 2018, Between the hours of 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Conservation Officers will be checking for Deer and Elk, being properly tagged.

As per Ute Indian Tribe Proclamation, Title 11 F. Tagging Big Game & G. Transporting Big Game and any other Fish and Wildlife violations.

All Violators will be cited for not complying with the Ute Tribe Proclamation.

Governor Herbert signed a proclamation declaring October as Don’t Quit!, Fitness Month.

During Don’t Quit Fitness month, families and community are encouraged to renew their commitment to making physical activity and healthy eating part of our children daily lives.

Thursday, Oct. 4th - Senior Expo in SLC day trip leaving at 8:30 and returning after 6:00 pm

Tuesday, Oct. 16th – Trip to the Lapoint Corn maze, from 9:00 am – 11:30 am. Transportation to be provided, meet at the Senior building at 9:00 am. Please sign-up with the Secretary.

Monday, Oct. 22nd – Closed for Deer Hunt

Wednesday, Oct. 24th – Senior Movie (Hocus Pocus) Sponsored by Ute Tribe Recreation. Movie will be at Senior Building at noon.

UTE TRIBE SENIOR TITLE VI, GRANT-MEALS & GRANT-TRANSPORTATION FOR 2018-19

The Ute Senior Center meal services is a regular nutritional meal program this is how this grant was written to benefit tribal members over the ages of 55 years & whom live within the service area. Meal Service is from 11:30-12:30 pm. Mondays thru Thursdays. Except on holidays, or tribal events.

UTE TRIBE SENIOR TITLE VI, UTE CAREGIVER SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR 2018-19.

The Ute Senior Program is here to give support. We will be offering classes or events in coordination with other tribal program. Respite care for tribal seniors during this time at the Ute Senior Center from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday thru Thursdays plus lunch is provided at the center from 11:30 – 12:30 pm.

CAREGIVER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be non-working individual over 18 years of age, whom is the main caretaker of tribal senior over the age 55 years old.

Or a non-working enrolled tribal senior whom has legal custody of grandchild.

Fill out all required application forms.

Just a reminder: The Ute Senior Program NO LONGER has a work crew, We forward all requests to Building Rehab. Program.

UPCOMING U.S. ELECTION:

If you are not registered or don’t know if your registered to vote and want a ride to go find out.

We are offering this to our tribal seniors. 2nd transport is October 10th 2018. This will be a morning transport.

Then on Election day one transport to Uintah County for you to vote on November 6. 2018.

Duchesne County has a mail in voting process. All votes matter and all votes count.

UINTAH SCHOOL DISTRICT’S IMPACT AID MEETING:

All Parents of children attending the schools in the Uintah School District are encouraged to attend.

UPDATE FROM UNITH RIVER HIGH SCHOOL:

You’re invited to FAFSA Night, Wednesday, October 17th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

We will be holding a FAFSA Night here at Uintah River High School Commons Area.

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is required for those who want to attend College.

Lil Ute’s Picture Day:

Picture day will be on Wednesday, October 3rd , at the Fort Duchesne gym fields. It is very important that your child be there on time. Players will need to come dressed in their uniforms. All equipment will be turned in that day. The photographer does take cash, checks, and cards. Please have order form filled out and payment ready. If you did not get an order form or misplaced it I can e-mail you one.

Will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 6:00 pm, at the Ute Tribe Head start Administration building.

Regalia Sewing Classes, come join us every Monday and Tuesday evenings 5-7:00 pm.

Classes will start Monday, October 8th .

Seating is limited, so please make sure you choose a Monday or Tuesday night to come join us.

This class is for the entire of October (or until completed) We only have supplies for 30 people and overnight it is already over half full, so be sure to get signed up by Thursday.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM FISH & WILDLIFE:

The BIA Forestry has advised that the Hill Creek area road closure has been rescinded.

Smoke is still visible from the Bear Trap Fire, however, there is no immediate danger to the public. If the Bear Trap fire does become a threat, another road closure notice will be issued.

ATTENTION: HIGHWAY 40 UPGRADED:

Public Meeting: is planned for Fort Duchesne and the surrounding community about a public meeting concerning US-40 Passing Lane project in Gusher. You are invited to join UDOT and the project team to learn about safety improvement being planned for US 40 in Gusher. This includes adding a center turn lane in town and passing lanes on the outside of town. Construction is anticipated to start in 2020. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 20th from 5-7:00 pm. Held at the Ute Lanes Family Fun Center.

NEWS UPDATE FROM ROBERT LUCERO, VETERANS DIRECTOR:

On Thursday, September 27th , The South Korean Government will honor the Utah Veterans who served in the Korean War protecting the South Korean people and fighting against tyranny. Join them as they honor the 19th Ute Tribal members who served in Korea during the War.

September 27th at the Ute Tribe Veterans Monument beginning at 2:00 pm, with Posting the Colors, Flag Song and South Korean National Anthem played, Prayer.

Short speech by: Robert Lucero, Council Member, and South Korean consultant. After speeches, consultant will give out the first commemoration medal and certificate to a living Korean War Veteran. The family members of deceased veterans will be presented the medals and certificates. All are invited to honor and remember these brave men.

UPDATE FROM EAGLE VIEW ELEMENTARY:

Eagle View After School Program, just a reminder that Eagle View’s after school program for 6th-8th grade students has begun. Students are able to stay after school every Monday and Wednesday to improve their grades and receive extra one on one tutoring.

In order for a student to stay, please make sure they have a U.T.T.M form filled out and return to one of the Ute Tribe Tutor/Mentors of EVE. An after school bus is available for students who live within the boundaries. If you are unsure if your student has a form filled out or if they can ride the bus home, feel free to give us a call.

Uintah High School Heritage Club is looking for Native American dancers and royalty of all ages and catagories from the community and surrounding schools to participate in Uintah High Schools homecoming half-time performance.
